Ann Curry
Ann Curry has worked as journalist for more than nearly 45 years. She focuses her reporting on natural disasters and areas of war. Curry has written about the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of the city of Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Curry was best known for being a correspondent of The Today Show, a daily morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry was known for her reporting on the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged nations and natural disasters. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese as is her father, who was another American Naval Sailor. After World War II, her parents came together during her father's service in Japan. Her father was a member of the military, so her family was forced to relocate a lot. They eventually moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended high school. In 1978, she graduated at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her exposure to diverse cultures and situations throughout her childhood likely contributed to the empathy in her approach to global issues. She finally graduated with honors from Ashland high school. The broadcasting profession began with an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22, she was the first journalist female at the station. Following that, she went on to become an anchor and reporter for KGW, an NBC affiliate station in Portland. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV four years after having moved to the city. In her time with the station, she won the award of two Emmy Awards.
